The Department of Applied Mathematics is seeking to fill the full-time non-tenure-track two-year position of Instructor of Applied Mathematics to begin August 2012. The Department of Applied Mathematics strives to provide excellent teaching, research, and service to the university community in the application of mathematics to other disciplines. Areas of research expertise within the department include Analysis, Computational Mathematics, Dynamical Systems, Mathematical Biology, Nonlinear Phenomena, Physical Applied Mathematics, Statistics and Applied Probability.
Job Responsibilities: The teaching load for this position is two courses per academic semester. Instructors may be asked to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses. This position requires both research and teaching.
Required Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics or related discipline is required. Strong written and oral communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills are required.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference is given to candidates with outstanding research and teaching records and whose portfolio combines Applied Mathematics with Analysis, Computational Mathematics, Geosciences, or Mathematical Biology. However, outstanding candidates with research potential in any Applied Mathematics discipline will be considered. Post Ph.D. academic training is highly desired.
