The Mathematical Biology Group (http://mathbio.colorado.edu/) at the University of Colorado Boulder seeks exceptional applicants for Research Associate (postdoctoral researcher) positions starting in Fall 2012. These positions are intended for recent graduates working at the frontiers of Mathematical Biology.
The successful applicant will receive a $6,000 monthly salary per academic year for the Research Associate position. The appointment is renewable up to three years based upon availability of funding and performance. Job Responsibilities: Successful applicants will be in the group of Prof. David Bortz, mentored by him and working on one of several funded projects including: 1) biomechanics of bacteremia or 2) surface reaction influences in the immune complement cascade. The successful applicant will participate in research leading to publications in top journals as well as help mentor junior graduate students working on related projects. The course load for this position is one class per semester.
Required Qualifications: A PhD in Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, or a related field is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Priority will be given to applicants with expertise in the mathematics of soft matter, flocculation, size-structured population models, reaction/diffusion equations, or systems biology, though excellent applicants in any area of applied mathematics will be considered.
