Title:
Case Studies in Machine Learning and Computer Vision
Abstract
Machine Learning and Computer Vision are two research areas that have matured consid- erably over the years. Sophisticated algorithms are readily available through comprehensive software libraries that allow the practitioner to readily address and solve realistic problems. It is also clear that the boundary between Machine Learning and Computer Vision is softening, if a clear boundary ever existed. In this talk I discuss several practical problems that draw from both Machine Learning and Computer Vision. The problems will be illustrated with short videos and I’ll give an indication of the type of algorithms behind the applications without going into any detail. This should demonstrate the power and scope of mathematics for solving real-life problems.
