X Menus

The root menus, which you get by pointing to the root (region outside of all windows) and pressing one of the mouse buttons, are normally
  1. left button; new windows, rlogins, log out
  2. middle button; window operations (resize, etc.)
  3. right button; go to a current window
Try them out, especially the first.

You can control the actual details of root menus by editing the window manager's configuration file. For the fvwm2 you edit the file .fvwm2rc in your home directory; if you use mwm instead, edit the file .mwmrc.
