Netscape
Netscape is the premier Web browser of the moment;
well-designed, sophisticated, and
(for university users) free!
The Web is increasingly used to provide
information both local (e.g., class syllabus
and assignments) and global;
it's a good idea to acquaint yourself with
the features of Netscape (menus and buttons)
and with the kinds of Web sites available
out there.
You can create your own Web pages if you have an
account on a Web server;
spot, stripe, ucsu,
ucsub, rintintin,
or a departmental web server.
On the five computers just listed,
getting started is as easy as typing the command
mkhomepage;
other computer systems have their own procedures.
Once you have a special directory to put your
web pages, you need to learn HTML.
Details can be found on-line in several places including
http://www/ITS/docs/webpages.
