Window Manipulation
If fvwm2 (or mwm) is your window manager, then each window
will be surrounded by a frame which you can easily resize
or move about using the mouse.
Fvwm2 puts a decorative border around most windows.
This border consists of
- a skinny bar along each of the four edges; side-bars
- a wider bar along the top; title-bar
- a small "L" shaped section on each corner; frames
- a menu button inside the upper left frame
- iconify and maximize buttons inside the upper right frame
When you point to the menu button
and click on the 1st (left-hand) mouse button,
you get a menu of window functions;
Move, Resize, Raise/Lower, etc.
You get the same menu by clicking on
any of the window bars with the 2nd
(middle) mouse button.
Also,
by pointing to one of the side-bars or frames,
pressing and holding the 1st (left-hand)
mouse button, you can drag the mouse to
resize the window.
The region outside of all windows on your monitor
is called the root.
Pointing to this region, you can
press any of the three mouse buttons
to get three root menus.
The details of your fvwm2 window manager can
be controlled by editing the file
.fvwm2rc, located in
your home directory.
This includes the functions of the L1-L10
and F1-F10 keys on your Sun keyboard.
If you use window manager
mwm or twm instead,
then edit the file
.mwmrc or
.twmrc.
