Applied Mathematics Undergraduate Computing Lab Contract

The following document explains what is expected of you when you are given access to the Applied Mathematics Undergraduate Computing Lab in ECCR 143. It is not intended to be a complete list of allowed/forbidden activities, but rather a guide for the use of hardware, software, and facilities.

Purpose of the Undergraduate Computing Lab

The Undergraduate Computing Lab was created in order to provide a professional computing environment that supports computation in Applied Mathematics undergraduate and graduate courses

Obligations:

As a user of the Undergraduate Computing Lab, I acknowledge that I have an obligation to keep the labs, computers, and classrooms in good working condition.
I will respect the Undergraduate Computing Lab and all of its hardware. I will do my best to make sure others do the same so that more students may benefit from the lab in the future.
I acknowledge that my IdentiKey login and password are for my PERSONAL use and no one else's. I will not disclose my login or password to anyone else for any reason whatsoever.
My access card is intended for my PERSONAL use. I will not let another person into the lab with my access card. I will not let another person enter the Undergraduate Computing Lab after me by "piggy-backing" on my entry.
I will not prop open either of the Undergraduate Computing Lab's entry doors.
I will log out of a workstation when I am finished using it.
Sometimes classes will be in session in the Undergraduate Computing Lab. During these times, I will vacate the lab unless I am enrolled in the class that is using it. Times during which the lab is reserved for classes will be posted.
I understand that the Undergraduate Computing Lab has limited resources and does not have funding to replace damaged or stolen items.
I understand that examples of inappropriate behavior include, but are not limited to:
- Using Computers for playing games.
- Distracting other students using the lab.
- Not cooperating with the lab TA's, lab assistants, or instructors.
- Leaving trash in the lab.
- Vandalizing the lab or its contents.
- Bringing bikes or pets in the lab.
- Drinking or eating in the lab.
- Using someone else's computer account.
I am responsible for any damages I cause through inappropriate behavior.

By my signature below, I certify that I have read and agree to the previous information and regulations. I will observe all posted policy and rules.
I understand that I will lose my Undergraduate Computing Lab access for the remainder of the academic year if I abuse my lab privileges.
