more about Unix
You can always buy a book about Unix, but whether you
intend to become a Unix expert or just hope to get by
on the lab workstations, first learn some of the basics
with online information. Then when you know a bit,
you'll be a better judge of whether printed material
is needed, and if so, you'll be better able to choose
the most readable of the many Unix books in the bookstore.
1. Our local Unix tutorial
If you haven't already read through the Newton Lab
Unix tutorial
then do so. 99% of the work you do on workstations
will involve no more Unix commands than what is
explained in this presentation.
2. CheatSheet
The most important Unix commands squeezed onto a single page;
view and/or print this
PDF cheatsheet.
3. Manual pages
All Unix computers try to be self-documented by including
manual pages for all Unix commands.
If you don't already know about manual pages,
read about them now.

Q: Which is best?
A: The one you like the best.
(The same is true of Unix books in the bookstore.)
