The course schedule lists the homework exercises and also shows the sections covered in each lecture and when the HWs (both online and written) are due. The solutions for the written HW will be posted here as they become available.
On your written homework, write your name, HW number, and recitation section number. Since very little written homework will be assigned, it should be written very neatly and stapled together. The HW will be graded partially on the presentation. It should be legible and all steps must be shown in a clear logical manner using standard mathematical conventions and notation. Any concerns about the grading of your homework should be directed to your TA.
The problem numbers given on the HW schedule page are given as a reference
meaning that these are the problems in the book to which the online HW
corresponds. So if you want additional practice, do these problems from
the book. The numbers in red on the online HW are generated randomly so
they may be different for different people. Keep this in mind when you
work with your peers.
In addition, you are only given 5 tries per submission and blank answers do
count as wrong. So before you hit a submit button, make sure that all the
fields above it are filled. If you don't want to submit it, then just
save it but obviously submit it (to get a grade) before the due time.
There is an electronic version of the textbook available (called "eBook") which
you can all use in case you don't have the physical textbook with you (or if
you never bought it). The eBook also has videos (for extra help).
And yes, they do allow you 14 days grace period. You are granted access
to your class without payment for the first two weeks from the class start
date. So, not having your book will not be considered an excuse for
not doing your HW (both online and written). But if you do enroll
late in the class, then talk to your TA to get your grade adjusted. You
will not be responsible for the actual assignments that were due before you
enrolled but you will be responsible for knowing the material in those missed
HWs (for the quizzes and tests).
The link for WebAssign (for the online HW) is https://www.webassign.net/colorado/login.html. Please log on with your CU Identikey and password.
We want you to do well in this course. The keys to success are simple: read the book and do your homework regularly on time. Ask questions when you do not understand. Since some of the answers are in the back of the book, you will get no credit for simply writing down the answer. You must show your work. No late homework will be accepted nor graded under any circumstances.
