The schedule of lectures and homeworks is HERE. Homeworks 5 and 11 will not be collected, and the two homeworks with the lowest grades will not be counted. This will leave 10 homeworks whcih will be worth 100 points. Only some problems from the assigned set of problems will be graded.
On your homework, write your name and your instructor's name. Homework solutions should be written neatly in pencil. Box in answers. Staple pages together. Trim spiral notebook fringes.
We want you to do well in this course. The keys to success are simple: read the book and do your homework regularly; ask questions when you do not understand. Since some of the answers are in the back of the book, you will get no credit for simply writing down the answer: you must show your work. Late homework will be penalized and will not be received after solutions are posted.
You are encouraged to discuss the homework problems with other students in the class, and to work on the problems together, but each student is required to write up and to submit his/her own homework set. You are not permitted to copy another student's homework, even if you worked on the problems together. Violation of the Student Academic Honesty Advising Guidelines will result in a course grade of F. Remember, giving unauthorized help is also considered a violation and incurs the same penalties as receiving help. If you are uncertain about whether or not something is cheating, please consult your instructor.
