There is no required text book. However, much of the materials
described in the class can be found in a very preliminary
manuscript under development: "
Modeling in
Applied Mathematics" by Bengt Fornberg and Ben Herbst (Univ. of
Stellenbosch, South Africa).

Course Grading.
The final course grade was determined as follows:
Assignment 1:
10 points
Team assignment: 10 points
Final proj. Abstract: 5 points (5 if
submitted, 0 if not submitted)
Final project:
25 points. The score was up to 5 points in each of the
following 5 aspects: Originality, Own work vs. mostly from literature,
Overall effort, Programming, and Presentation.
The resulting total course scores became distributed as seen on this
histogram. The top 6 scores were assigned (A),
next 4 (A-), next 5 (B+) and last 2 (B).
