Slow Manifolds: What are they and how can they be computed?

Mathematical models that describe a physical situation often contain many more
variables than the number of dimensions needed to describe the dynamical
behavior of interest. Specifically the flow of a system of ODEs may rapidly
decay onto a manifold of much lower dimension - a slow manifold. In this talk
I'll detail methods by which slow manifolds may be located and discuss
difficulties that can arise.
