I will be using Skippy Launch as my base application idea. But I plan to enhance it in basically every aspect from art to programming. From an artistic standpoint, I hope that this game will allow players' to feel more light and happy, which is usually what people think of when they think of winter and Christmas. From a mathematical view, I would want players to really consider angle and power combinations to hit their target goal, rather than just inputting random positive integers. From a programming point of view, I think my application would be a success if it made players curious as to how I programmed everything and say comments such as, "Wow! How'd you do that?" My ideal final product would be something that really interests and entertains its players as well as making them think when it comes to the artistic aspect, more especially the mathematical, scientific, and programming aspects. But at the same time, I really hope they appreciate or even are in awe of my work and believe that this something that they could play number times in the future.

Rather than having the plain Skippy Launch art, which consists of only a triangular ramp and a car on a blank white background, I plan to have my art completely winter themed. It will have everything from a tree, a snowman, a snow jump, and snow. Hopefully, I will have enough time to include everything else people think of when they think of the winter, such as a sled, Santa Claus, elves, a polar bear, skier, snowboarder, Rudolf, the Gingerbread Man, and anything else I can muster up in my mind before the deadline. I intend to make everything in Photoshop so it gives me a visual interpretation on how everything is going to be set up, which will help me determine where everything is going to be placed in the final flash product. By being very organized and detailed orientated as far as layers in Photoshop, I can easily group similar layers and items together. This will then allow me to just copy and paste whatever item or groups I want into a new Photoshop project, make the background transparent, crop it, and save it as a .png file so it can be easily imported, animated and coded into my flash game. For example, I'll definitely use this technique for the clouds so that I can have them loop from right to left in the sky. I believe that the art and background will definitely make my flash product different from others and unique. Hopefully, it will also bring the Christmas-esque spirit to its game players. |

| Programming: |
My program will include and make happen a variety of things. It'll have all 3 types of text boxes, static, input, and output. Everything in static text boxes will probably be the title, author name, possible instructions, and text stating where to input an angle and power amount. Following that, the input text boxes will be where players insert an angle and power amount of their choosing. And finally, the output text boxes will be the number of launches and hits. There will also be many symbols in my application, from specific text boxes, to buttons, to artwork so that I can incorporate them more into flash to be in my final product. Of course, most of the programming is already in action script from the Skippy Launch game. But I plan to further enhance it by adding launch and hit counters, and some movie clips whether it's the clouds looping from right to left in the air, to a snowman falling. I also found some tutorials on adding a Christmas themed pre-loading bar and animated snow that falls down that I hope to include. |
