Anne Dougherty - Department of Applied Mathematics Associate Department Chair and Undergraduate Studies Chair
Awarded the Faculty Outstanding Advisor Award from the University of Colorado College of Engineering in September 2007 for academic year 2006-2007. She was also recognized in the Summer 2007 issue of Colorado Engineer Magazine, a publication created by the University of Colorado Engineering School.
Mary Nelson - Department of Applied Mathematics Instructor
Awarded the Faculty Appreciation Award by the MultiCultural Engineering Program on 04 April 2008 at the MEP Annual Recognition Gala. This is Dr. Nelson's second year in a row for this distinction.
Adam Norris - Department of Applied Mathematics Instructor
Awarded the John and Mercedes Peebles Award for Innovation in Education in 2007. The award is decided by student vote.
Douglas Baldwin - Applied Mathematics Ph.D. Candidate
Awarded the National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship by the Air Force Research Laboratory and Air Force Office of Scientific Research in 2006.
Benjamin Safdi - Applied Mathematics and Engineering Physics Undergraduate Student
Awarded the $10,000 by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation in a presentation given by Mercury 7 Astronaut and University of Colorado at Boulder Aerospace Alumni, Scott Carpenter on November 15, 2007.
Anonymous Donor Gives $10,000 in Scholarships
In 2007, Applied Mathematics students Andrew Gluga, Anna Lieb, Kirk Nichols, Kye Taylor, and Annie Venturo were each awarded $2,000 scholarships by an anonymous donor.
Applied Mathematics Students Top in College of Engineering
Kristopher Tucker (BS/MS May 2007) awarded the Academic Achievement Award at the May 2007 graduation ceremony for earning the highest GPA in the College of Engineering among graduate students. Craig A. Fogle (undergraduate Applied Mathematics and Engineering Physics student) recognized as one of the Outstanding Graduates for research in December of 2007.
Mathematical Visualization Toolkit (MVT) Wins MERLOT Awards

Applied Mathematics Students Honored in The Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM)
The Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM), challenges teams of students to clarify, analyze, and propose solutions to open-ended problems. The contest attracts diverse students and faculty advisors from over 500 institutions around the world. In February of 2008, the Department of Applied Mathematics had students on two teams receive "Meritorious" and three teams receive "Honorable Mention" for their work. Over 1540 teams entered the competition, working on three different problems. (Further information on Applied Mathematics teams at the February 2008 MCM.)
