I became interested in engineering and math at an early age with the help of many great math teachers during the beginning of my education. As I got older and started thinking about what I may want to do with my life engineering always seemed like the best option for me. It combined two of my favorite things; math and building things. The truly great thing about engineering in my opinion is that it is both a mentally stimulating career, as well as it can be very hands on. As a mechanical engineer I will be both designing new products, as well as improving existing products. I will get to be involved from the early conceptual and design stages, all the way through the last prototyping stages. Having an applied math background as well will make it so that I have opportunities to get onto much more complex design teams with the mathematical knowledge of how to fix some of these more difficult problems. Thus far in my education probably one of my favorite classes has been Intro to CAD, or computer aided design. In this class you start off by making simple 3-D models in a CAD program called SolidWorks, which culminates in a competition where each student has to make a CAD model that replicates an existing product. Post graduation I hope to get a job working in the automotive industry, especially working with motorcycles. My dream job would be to be on a design team for Ducati motorcycles someday.
