In addition to pursuing a PhD in applied math, I work as a CIRES research assistant to Dr. Adrian Tuck at the NOAA Aeronomy Laboratory. We have generated several papers regarding the scaling characteristics of various measurements made by aircraft in the upper atmosphere.
